For many decades, the Indianapolis Colts have produced stellar players, each with his illustrious career highlights. Find out the roster of the Colts’ best players and a brief information about them. If you had your own Colts dream team, you would have surely picked any of them.

Peyton Manning

1) Peyton Manning
Peyton Manning (born in 1976) is one of the best-known Colts quarterbacks. A five-time National Football League (NFL) MVP, he started suiting up for the Colts in 1998 and stayed there for thirteen seasons until his exit from the team in 2011 (he played for the Denver Broncos thereafter).

Known by his nickname as “The Sheriff,” Manning boasts several records, including the most touchdown passes (with 539) and 4,000-yard passing seasons (with 14), apart from being a five-time league MVP. He is also a two-time Super Bowl champion and the Super Bowl XLI MVP.

2) Marvin Harrison
Now retired from active career, Marvin Harrison (born in 1972) is still recognized as one of Colts’ most popular players and also one of the greatest wide receivers in the history of National Football League. Drafted into the team ni 1996, Harrison went on to spend the next thirteen years with them. He received a Super Bowl ring upon the team’s victory over the Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl XLI.

3) Johnny Unitas
The late Johnny Unitas (1933-2002) was a star quarterback who played for the Colts for most of his career. He was named the league’s MVP three times (in 1959, 1964 and 1967) and a one-time Super Bowl champion (1971). For 52 years he was unbeaten for having the most consecutive games with a touchdown pass. He was inducted to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979.

4) Reggie Wayne
Reggie Wayne (born in 1978) is a now-retired NFL star. After being picked 30th overall in the 2001 NFL draft, he went on to spend the next 13 years with the Colts. In fact, he spent his entire career with the team alone. A star wide receiver, Wayne recorded 1,000-yard seasons consecutively between 2004 and 2010. The former University of Miami stalwart currently ranks at seventh place on the all-time league career receptions, tenth in all-time league receiving yards, and 23rd all-time in career touchdown receptions.

5) Dwight Freeney
Dwight Freeney (born in 1980) is a now-retired football player who spent the majority of his 16-year career with the Indiana Colts (2002-2012), where he played as a defensive linesman. He participated in seven Pro Bowls and helped the team to steer towards their Super Bowl XLI championship (over the Chicago Bears). He also suited up for other several football teams such as the San Diego Chargers and Detroit Lions (his last).

6) Robert Mathis
Robert Mathis (born in 1981) is a former NFL outside linebacker who spent his entire 14-year career with the Colts (2003-2016). After retiring, Mathis became the team’s assistant defensive coach in 2017, a position he still holds as of this writing.
He was one of the Colts’ most valuable defensive assets. He made the Pro Bowler six times and steered the Colts to their Super Bowl XLI victory.

7) Jeff Saturday
Jeff Saturday (born in 1975) is an ex-NFL center who spent most of his 13-year career with the Colts (1999-2011). He was also a part of the Colts’ Super Bowl XLI championship over the Chicago Bears. In addition, he made it to four All-Pro teams and five Pro Bowls. He ended his active career with the Green Bay Packers before retiring.

8) Adam Vinatieri
Adam Vinatieri (born in 1972) is an NFL placekicker who started his career in 1996 with the now-defunct Amsterdam Admirals, an American team in NFL Europe. Next, he suited up with the New England Patriots (1996-2005) before moving to the Colts in 2006. As of this writing, Vinatieri still actively plays for the Colts. Vinatieri’s main claim to fame is his record career field goals (with 556) and his 44 consecutive league field goals made.
